Equipment Recommendations (Backpacking)

Clothing (for all weather conditions)

  • Clean set of clothes to leave in vehicle for changing into at end of trip
  • Hiking boots (sturdy) with lug soles
  • Fleece jacket or wool shirt
  • Gaiters
  • Gore-tex (or similar water-proof/breathable) Parka
  • Mittens or Gloves with shells (2)
  • Pants (no denim)
  • Shorts and T-shirt for hiking
  • Sun hat
  • Thermal underwear (wool, polypropylene or equivalent)
  • Warm hat
  • Warm sweater
  • Wind pants
  • Wool or polypropylene socks with liners (2)
