South Spur Itinerary
Day 1: Drive to Mount Adams Ranger Station in Trout Lake, Washington (5,500 ft). After checking in and paying fees, we will head to Cold Springs Campground (5,500 ft). We’ll pack up and hike approximately 3.5 miles to Lunch Counter. We’ll set up camp and enjoy a snack. Then, we’ll practice glissading and self-arrest techniques with an ice axe. After enjoying dinner, we will discuss tomorrow’s climb and finish packing our summit bags.
Day 2: Wake up at 5:00 a.m. for a quick breakfast and depart for the summit around 6:00 a.m. We should summit by noon and return to camp by 3:00 p.m. After descending the route, enjoy the afternoon relaxing at camp while your guides prepare a delicious dinner.
Day 3: Wake up at 7:00 a.m. enjoy breakfast, break down camp and hike to the vehicle by noon. We may stop for food in Trout Lake (huckleberry milkshakes). We should arrive in Portland, Oregon by early evening.
