Mount Thielsen Itinerary
Day 1: Drive to the Mount Thielson trailhead located in Southern Oregon. From the trailhead we will hike about four miles to the junction of the Pacific Crest Trail and set up camp. Your guide(s) will prepare dinner while you relax and enjoy the mountain experience. Following dinner we’ll have a pre-climb briefing and get our summit packs ready.
Day 2: We will get up at 7 AM, have breakfast and head directly for the summit climb. From the climbers trail we will climb up the west ridge of Mount Thielson till we reach the base of the summit pinnacle. After a quick snack, we will ascend the fixed lines that our lead guide will set. While self-belaying toward the summit, you will have a chance to take in dramatic views of the Cascade Range. Post climb we will descend back to our basecamp to enjoy a fantastic dinner and an evening in the high alpine environment.
Day 3: We will get up at 7 AM and enjoy a leisurely morning as we make breakfast and pack up for our hike back to the trailhead. At the trailhead we will have a light lunch and load up in the van for the trip back to Portland.
**Rare Earth Adventures will make every attempt to follow the trip itinerary. However, this itinerary is subject to change due to group dynamics, unsafe weather and/or route conditions, or other reasons beyond our control.
